ASC 23 hour care

Florida Senate and House Pass Legislation for 23 Hour Care for Florida Ambulatory Surgical Centers May 1, 2019 – TALLAHASSEE, FLA Both the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate passed historical healthcare legislation this week. House Bill 843 and Senate Bill 7078 contain language allowing patients to stay up to 23 hours in an ambulatory surgical center (ASC). The current Florida law dictates a patient must be discharged by midnight. The Florida Society of Ambulatory Surgical Centers (FSASC) strongly supported the passage of this legislation. “ASCs offer an alternative option for Florida patients for certain medical procedures,” said FSASC President Saul Epstein. “With the new extended timeline, additional recovery time in our Florida ASC has been made available for our patients.” This is a victory for patient healthcare.” Pending final signage by Governor DeSantis, the new law will be effective July 1, 2019.
